Joe Edles
I am currently the Head Tennis Professional at the prestigious Greenwood Athletic and Tennis Club in Greenwood Village, Colorado.  I supervise 8 teaching pros and manage 7 indoor clay courts and 5 outdoor hard courts.

As director of tennis at the prestigious Pinehurst Country Club in Denver, Colo., I managed a tennis facility showcasing 12 outdoor and four indoor tennis courts.

I supervised a staff including teaching pros and sales people who assist with customer service, retail sales, tennis racquet repair and service, and court maintenance. In addition, I have owned a retail tennis pro shop that carried an inventory of tennis apparel, racquets, shoes, balls and other tennis-related merchandise.

A well-qualified teaching professional, I have attained a Professional 1 certification in the USPTA. I have participated in numerous USPTA conventions that offered educational seminars related to teaching techniques, coaching, pro shop operations, business management, human resource management, sport science and career development.

I have been a board member of state and national tennis associations and served as president of the six-state Intermountain Division of the USPTA. I was also named Pro of the Year in 1994 for the Intermountain Division.

I was national chairperson for USPTA's Multicultural Committee and led various discussions at national and divisional conventions on issues related to minorities and cultural diversity.

In addition, I chaired numerous committees for USPTA's Intermountain Division and Denver District, including education, bylaws, regional convention, Mentors Program, Harry Drummond Charity Tournament, Champion of Champions Tournament, high school coaches clinic, Tennis Across America Day, Multicultural Committee, Nominating Committee and USPTA circuit tournaments.

In addition to teaching tennis, I have worked as a construction manager for Great West Contractors and completed more than 1,700 apartment units in the Denver metro area. My responsibilities included the coordination and management of apartment construction, contract negotiations and municipal approvals.

I have a bachelor's degree in sociology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Since my graduation, I have been a tennis professional in Illinois (at Champaign Country Club and The Racquet Club) and in Colorado (Mount Vernon Country Club, Meadowcreek Racquet Club, Pinehurst Country Club and Denver Country Club).

As a tennis player, I have had a successful career. Growing up in Southern California, I held top 10 national rankings in the 14-, 16- and 18-year-old age divisions. At 18, I was named to the prestigious Junior Davis Cup squad.

I also was a college All-American at Southern Methodist University, reaching the singles quarterfinals at the NCAA national collegiate championships.

I have been ranked No. 1 in open doubles in Colorado and attained a USTA No. 1 ranking in 40-and-over singles in the Intermountain Section. I also was the USPTA national champion in the 40-and-over age division and earned a No. 1 national ranking in singles and doubles.

In 2008, my parents, sister, brother and myself were awarded USTA Tennis Family of the Year, Southern California Section.
